Plourde, Vickie
Vickie Plourde is an early career researcher and assistant professor at the School of Psychology, Université de Moncton, New Brunswick. She completed a PhD in clinical psychology with a concentration in clinical neuropsychology at the Université Laval, in Quebec City, an internship in clinical pediatric neuropsychology at the CHU Sainte-Justine, mother and child university hospital center, in Montreal, and a research postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology, at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute.
Her research interests are in developmental and clinical pediatric neuropsychology, using a multidimensional approach to work with children and adolescents with cognitive problems, attention or learning problems, or experiencing a slower recovery from a brain injury. More specifically in the area of brain injury, she is interested in better understanding potential short and long-term effects of concussions (or mild traumatic brain injury) on children’s and adolescents’ brain, behavioural, psychological, neuropsychological, and academic functioning, as well as modifiers of concussion outcomes, such as sex, gender, and pre- post-injury attention symptoms, learning disabilities or psychological symptoms.
