Ledoux, Andrée-Anne

Dr. Ledoux is a Scientist at the CHEO Research Institute and an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, and Clinical Science and Translational Medicine. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa and in the Neuroscience Department at Carleton University. Dr. Ledoux holds a PhD in Experimental Psychology and Behavioural Neuroscience.

Dr. Ledoux and her team are focused on developing and testing management protocols aimed at promoting neuronal repair, with the goal of reducing the risk of persistent post-concussive symptoms, shortening recovery time, and enhancing resiliency and neural protection in pediatric concussion. Her research seeks to identify neural correlates of recovery that can serve as biomarkers and to explore how behavioral treatments can influence these biomarkers.

She is currently examining the acute and subacute clinical, neuropsychological, and neurophysiological recovery processes associated with two behavioral management protocols: early return to physical activity and mindfulness-based intervention, using MRI. Given the substantial brain maturation and functional development that occur during childhood—as well as the influence of sex differences—her work also investigates age- and sex-based variations in concussion outcomes.

With a multidisciplinary approach, state-of-the-art techniques, and both national and international collaborations, Dr. Ledoux aims to reduce the impact of concussion on children, adolescents, and their families.
