Friedman, Debbie

Debbie Friedman, BSc pht MMgmt, is currently the Director of Trauma at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), and Director of the Canadian Hospitals Injury Reporting and Prevention Program (CHIRPP). Throughout her career of over 3 decades she has been involved in pediatric & adolescent trauma care at a local, regional, provincial, national, and international levels. Debbie Friedman has represented youth trauma and injury prevention issues in many forums, and on decision-making committees. Debbie holds a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University.

Debbie’s longstanding areas of clinical interest as well as teaching, research, and community out-reach have been in: the prevention, management, and intervention of concussions in youth; inter-professional collaboration and team building; and in the development of systems of care for youth trauma. She has worked extensively with the media, community partners, governing bodies and trauma networks to increase awareness about issues related to youth concussion and other areas of trauma.
