Thornton, Allen

Dr. Allen Thornton, PhD, RPsych, is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Simon Fraser University and a Research Scientist at the British Columbia Mental Health and Addictions Research Institute (BCMHARI). He is the Director of the Human Neuropsychology Laboratory at Simon Fraser University. Two primary themes dominate Dr. Thornton’s research work. First, he investigates cognitive and neuropsychological models of human brain function and dysfunction to establish differential impairments in persons with brain injuries and disorders. Second, he investigates treatment and disease-related factors that alter the expression of neurocognitive deficits and symptoms. Dr. Thornton’s work has been funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) as well as other sources.
